"Departures" was commissioned by the "Noire Ensemble Winds", a community band from Fukuoka, Japan, on the occasion of the bands 20th anniversary. The conductor, Koichiro Taketomi and the composer both like the Japanese artist Tetsuya Komuro. He is recognized as the most successful producer in the Japanese music history and introduced contemporary electronic dance music to the Japanese mainstream. We agreed to make this piece based on dance music. The title "Departures" is also one of the titles Komuro produced. The premiere of the piece was held on May 23th 2021, in "Kasuga City Centre" in Fukuoka, Japan.
福岡県春日市で活動する市民吹奏楽団、ノアール･アンサンブル･ウィンズの楽団創立20周年を記念して作曲。
指揮者の武富浩一郎氏と私はお互いに小室哲哉氏の音楽が好きだったことが打ち合わせでわかり、彼が手掛けたダンスミュージックのようなスタイルで楽曲を制作することで話がまとまりました。
英題の"Departures"も氏が手掛けたヒット曲から拝借したものです。
2021年5月23日、春日市にて武富氏の指揮により初演。
